Beta5 Chocolates

This chocolate factory might be one of the city’s best kept secrets. It’s tucked away on industrial ave in an unassuming warehouse building, far away from anywhere you’d expect to come for desserts. If you ever imagined going to Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory, this is as close as it gets!

Beta5 Chocolates has one of most intriguing names that actually has a very cool meaning behind it. Apparently, they call it Beta5 because the form-5 beta crystal is the most stable form of cocoa butter crystallization, formed through the controlled melting, and subsequent cooling of liquid chocolate, giving their chocolates a distinctive shine and crisp snap. They are home to award-winning chocolates and preserves, fresh baked croissants, filled-to-order cream puffs and modern desserts. Skilled artisans use the finest ingredients and hand craft all their items.

Upon entering, we were offered samples of their most popular and award-winning chocolates, the Whole Cherry. I can safely say that this was a whole new chocolate eating experience for me. You can immediately tell that this delicate piece was hand crafted and very carefully put together. Their chocolates are not cheap but they are definitely something I would consider buying as a gift to someone who appreciates some good chocolate.

We tried two of their cream puff, the Blueberry Yuzu, and the 85% Dark & Caramel. These were freshly stuffed with cream to order for us. I also got a small chocolate bar with bacon inside.

This a must visit dessert place if you are a fan of chocolate or cream puffs. Having them freshly stuffed is something you can rarely eat anywhere else. I would say it’s a great place to think about going to during the holiday season, as they have many specialty items they make only during this time, and they are great for gifts!
