About Me

Welcome to One’s and Two’s everybody!

My name is Nathan and I’ve created this blog to share my love for delicious meals for any occasion. You are probably wondering why this blog is called One’s and Two’s. Before I get into that, let me tell you a little bit of a background on ME!

I have had many many jobs in many different industries in my life, 15 to be exact, all ranging from retail, to education, automotive, culinary, film and now financial. I wouldn’t say that I’m an expert on anything, but I’ve definitely had a chance to experience a lot more things than most others my age would be able to say they’ve done. Probably my most memorable career was in the food industry. I worked in four different restaurants in Vancouver in a variety of positions ranging from prep cook to sous chef. I did this for about 4 years and I can honestly say that I love being in the kitchen and I was almost ready to make a lifelong career out of it! But I am a man of many passions. This is why I moved into film next, where I was able to get behind the cameras and learn about a whole different type of industry. This lasted me about another year. Currently I am a Financial Advisor for a pretty big institution, and I’ve been doing this for almost 2 years now. In hindsight, I know that I loved everything I’ve done in the past, but I needed some stability in my life so that I could establish myself in the world. But at the end of the day, after I take off my suit, I still come home and pick up my knives and get into the kitchen, excited to cook a meal!

Now you’re all wondering why this blog is called One’s or Two’s. I have long been cooking for myself or just for Jenny and I. Every time I go shopping, I am forced to buy enough ingredients to make my dishes. But the problem is, for people like me, how do we cook delicious and healthy home cooked meals, when we end up having to throw out half of the stuff we buy. This blog will not only be a log of my journeys tasting amazing food around the world, but also I will try to find the most efficient ways to cook for less money, with less waste! I will also be following in the near future with cooking videos showing the basic culinary skills you will need to be confident cooking incredible food in your own home!

    Hi Nathan,

I’ve added a new feature so you can publish your blog posts on Urbanspoon yourself without having to wait for us to do it! Next time you post a review, give it a try. Here’s how:

    – Make sure you’re signed into Urbanspoon.
    – Go to your Urbanspoon blog page (not your user profile): https://www.urbanspoon.com/br/14/12203/Vancouver/Ones-or-Twos.html
    – Click “Edit blog settings”.
    – In the Pending Posts section, click “Edit and publish my pending posts”.
    – Then, enter the “snippet” text, verify the date and URL, and press Publish.

    Please make sure that:
    – The URL should be the permalink to the blog post (not the blog home page, a post preview, or a service like feedproxy).
    – The snippet should be 2-3 sentences (quoted from your blog post) that gives an idea of what’s in the post.
    – The snippet should NOT include bylines, dates, address info, captions, tags, HTML code, etc.

Note: there may be a delay of 1-2 hours after you post on your blog until our system detects the post.

We’ll give you one week to do it yourself, then it’ll go into our queue to publish.

Thank you for all of your contributions, and let me know if you have any questions.

    Greg
